Microsoft Launches MAI AI Models for Copilot: Code, Reasoning, Image

Microsoft Launches MAI AI Models for Copilot: Code, Reasoning, Image

Microsoft launched its own AI model

Microsoft developed it in-house. It’s called MAI-Code-1-Flash, and it’s being rolled out across all Copilot plans. (including the free one)

The new MAI model lineup includes:
• MAI-Code-1-Flash — for programming
• MAI-Thinking-1 — a reasoning model with 35B parameters
• MAI-Image-2.5 — image generation
• MAI-Transcribe-1.5 — speech recognition in 43 languages

What Microsoft claims:
• the model was trained directly in Copilot’s production environment, not separately from the product
• on complex tasks it uses 60% fewer tokens compared to comparable models
• it scores 85.8% on Microsoft’s internal adversarial coding benchmark
• context window — 256K tokens

If Copilot is already connected, you can immediately proceed to selecting the model.
