Anthropic Preps Public Launch of New Mythos as Oceanus Leaks

Insider info on Anthropic: the company is preparing for the public launch of a new version of Mythos

Yesterday, one of the model checkpoints codenamed Oceanus was released to participants in the red teaming program.

According to sources, such tests usually start about a week before a broader release. If that rule applies here as well, the announcement could happen very soon.

But there’s a catch.

The program has already been suspended. According to scaling01, one of the participants allegedly resold access to the model via a Chinese API proxy.

It’s still unclear whether this incident will affect the launch timeline. Anthropic has not commented publicly on the situation.
If the information is confirmed, then the appearance of Oceanus looks like the first signal that the next generation of Mythos is already in the final stage of testing before release.
