Anthropic Launches Claude Tag: AI Teammate for Slack Channels
Anthropic introduced Claude Tag
Now Claude can be added to Slack as a full-fledged team member. Just mention it in a message, and it will independently break the task into stages, do the work using the available tools, and publish the result right in the discussion thread.
Claude Tag can write and merge PRs, analyze data, help with incident response, and perform other tasks. At the same time, there is one shared Claude in each channel, so any team member can continue the work from where a colleague left off.
As you communicate, Claude accumulates the channel context, so you don’t need to re-explain the project details every time. If you enable ambient behavior mode, it will start taking initiative on its own: returning to quieted discussions and reporting important events from related channels and tools.
According to Anthropic, 65% of the product team’s code is already created with the help of an internal version of Claude Tag. Do we believe it?
The feature is currently available in beta for Claude Enterprise and Claude Team users in Slack.
P.S. Almost immediately after the announcement, the CopilotKit developers introduced Open Tag—an open alternative to Claude Tag. The project is compatible with any AI model, any agent framework, and custom agents; it supports generative UI, streaming response generation, Human-in-the-Loop, and full discussion-thread context.
For now, access is granted via an early access form, although the authors claim the project is fully open and that they will open up more clients soon, including Telegram, WhatsApp, and Discord.
