OpenAI Codex Adds Native Chrome Extension for Parallel Browser Tasks

Codex has turned the browser into its primary working environment.

OpenAI officially announced today that Codex now natively supports the Chrome browser extension, running directly on macOS and Windows.

So now it not only manages web pages and apps better, but is also able to process multiple tabs in parallel in the background, without taking over control of the browser window at all.

This means that repetitive tasks in the browser, such as structured page navigation, complex data entry, dashboard checks, CRM updates, etc. — Codex can perform on its own: generate code, execute it, and in parallel handle tasks in multithreaded mode.

The Chrome extension is already available for installation in the Codex app (it is not yet supported in the EU and the UK; support will appear later).
