Claude Code Adds Graceful Stop at 5‑Hour Limit with Reserve Feature
Claude Code now avoids abrupt cuts when the 5‑hour session limit hits, using a small reserve to finish tasks. Rolling out to Pro, Max and Team Premium users.
Claude Code will no longer abruptly stop working if the 5‑hour limit expires right in the middle of a task.
Instead, it will try to reach a normal stopping point and finish the current changes. For this, Claude receives a small fixed reserve from the weekly limit.
The feature is gradually being rolled out to users:
> on Pro — once a week
> on Max and Team Premium — each time the 5‑hour session limit is reached.
OpenAI removed a similar capability a few weeks ago.
